Rien ne sert de courir ! La Bible en fe’efe’e en 10 ans. L’Evêque du Diocèse de Bafang et le Président du Synode de l’Eglise Evangélique du Haut-Nkam ont relancé le projet de la traduction de la Bible en langue fe’efe’e. Le projet ne date pas d’aujourd’hui. Il y a des décennies que le besoin se faisait sentir. Des bonnes volontés se sont mis au travail, des prêtres et des laîcs. En particulier, feu Louis Marie Nitcheu, éminent auteur d’écrits en fe’efe’e et Mgr NKUISSI Thomas, ancien evêque de Nkongsamba, ont légué des manuscrits; feu Abbé TCHAPE Jean Bosco, un expert exégète, était spécialement chargé de rassembler et exploiter ces travaux. Mgr KUISSI avait obtenu l’accord de l’Alliance Biblique Camerounaise (ABC) pour apporter son appui à cette oeuvre. Après lui, la hiérarchie du Diocèse de Nkongsamba a montré moins de zèle pour son aboutissement. Depuis, plusieurs communautés, bénéficiant de l’appui technique et financier de l’Alliance, ont mené à bien la traduction de la Bible dans leur langue. Les premiers deviendront derniers !
Depuis un an, le projet est revenu au devant de la scène sous l’impulsion de Mgr KOME. Les Eglises Catholique et Evangélique, chefs de file du projet ont coopté l’Association Culturelle Nufi comme partenaire. C’est ainsi que le Directoire Nufi a pris part à la récente réunion préparatoire, le 14/07/2017 à Bafang. Au stade actuel, il est convenu que : le lancement officiel des travaux qui dureront 10 ans au moins, aura lieu à Bafang, en principe, le 27 janvier 2018, en présence des autorités ecclésiastiques, administratives et traditionnelles, des paroissiens et des invités qui donneront leur bénédiction pour la réussite du projet. D’ici là, des travaux préparatoires sont programmés, notamment le recrutement et la formation de trois traducteurs, employés à plein temps et devant résider à Bafang, l’élaboration du budget prévisionnel du projet, l’édition d’une plaquette de présentation , l’organisation du déroulement de la journée de lancement. Le projet requiert des moyens financiers importants qui proviendront en partie de l’Alliance Biblique, en partie des deux promoteurs, les églises catholique et évangélique et leurs amis: les paroissiens, les élites et toutes les bonnes volontés. Une fondation américaine, sollicitée par l’ABC pourrait apporter sa contribution.

L’ABC apportera aussi son expertise en exégèse et en technique de traduction? Quant à l’Association Nufi, le projet compte sur son expertise en écriture de la langue fe’efe’e, sur sa capacité de mobilisation des contributeurs, ses efforts pour vulgariser l’alphabétisation afin élargir le lectorat de la Bible une fois éditée.itis never too late !
The Holy Bible in fe’efe’e language within ten years
The Bishop of the Bafang Diocese and the President of the Synod of the Evangelical Church of Upper Nkam, relaunched the project of translating the Bible into the Fe’efe’e. The project does not date from today. The need has been felt for decades. Good wills were put to work, priests and laity. In particular, the late Louis Marie Nitcheu, an eminent writer in fe’efe’e, and Bishop NKUISSI, former bishop of Nkongsamba Diocese, bequeathed manuscripts; The late Abbé TCHAPE Jean Bosco, an exegete , was especially charged with collecting and exploiting these works.
Bishop KUISSI had obtained the agreement of the Biblical Alliance of Cameroon (ABC) to support this work. After him, the hierarchy of the Diocese of Nkongsamba showed less zeal for its outcome. Since then, several communities have benefited from the technical and financial support of this institution and have successfully translated the Bible into their own language. The first will become last!
This year, the project has returned to the forefront of the stage under the impulse of Bishop KOME. The Nufi Cultural Association has been co-opted as a partner, alongside the Catholic Church and the Evangelical Church of Cameroon. Therefore, the Nufi Board of Directors was represented at the recent preparatory meeting on 14 july 2017 in Bafang.
At the present stage, it is agreed that: the official launching of the works, which will last 10years minimum , will take place in Bafang, in principle, on 27 January 2018, in the presence of ecclesiastical, administrative and traditional authorities, parishioners and guests; they will give their blessing for the success of the project. In the meantime, preparatory work is scheduled, including the recruitment and training of three full-time translators who will be residing in Bafang, the preparation of the project budget, the editing of a presentation brochure, the organization of the launching ceremony.
The project requires significant financial resources that will come partly from the Bible Alliance, partly from the two promoters, the Catholic and Evangelical churches, and their friends and supporters : parishioners, elites and all goodwill.
The ABC will also bring expertise in exegesis and translation techniques? As for the Nufi Association, the project relies on its expertise in writing the native language , its ability to mobilize contributors, its efforts to popularize literacy in view of expand the readership of the Bible, when edition will be competed. This is a great challenge for all of us.
