Dans un précédent article, nous vous avons annoncé le projet imminent de la traduction de la Sainte Bible en fe’efe’e. Le 19 janvier 2018 s’est déroulé à Bafang la cérémonie de lancement des travaux, sous la présidence conjointe des promoteurs, Mgr Abraham KOME, Evêque de Bafang, du Pasteur KONTCHOU Christophe, Président du Synode de l’Eglise Evangélique du Cameroun pour le Haut Nkam, et du Directeur Général de l’Alliance Biblique du Cameroun (ABC), venu spécialement de Yaoundé.

Cette émouvante cérémonie a été précédée d’un séminaire de formation de candidats qui postulent pour exécuter les travaux, séminaire animé par un cadre de l’Alliance Biblique venu spécialement du Nord. Etaient conviés au lancement du projet, les collaborateurs de l’Evêque et ceux du Pasteur Kontchou, les membres du Directoire et des enseignants de NUFI, des élites du Haut-Nkam venus des dix régions du Cameroun. L’animation était assurée par les chorales Poo Kristo et Cherubin accompagnée par sa fanfare.

Ce jour-là, Monseigneur l’Evêque et le révérend Pasteur, ont pris la parole pour entretenir les invités, par la lecture et commentaire de textes bibliques, par la prière, par des informations sur la naissance du projet, ses péripéties, l’ampleur des efforts attendus des haut-nkamois soucieux de disposer de la Bible en leur langue maternelle. Ils n’ont pas manqué d’exprimer leur gratitude et d’adresser leurs remerciements au Directeur Général de l’ABC et à tous ceux qui se sont devoués pour arriver à ce résultat.

Le discours du Directeur Général de l’Alliance Biblique du Cameroun, M. GNOWA Luc, a particulièrement retenu l’attention. Il s’est étonné que le peuple NUFI ait tant tardé à se doter de la Bible en langue maternelle, alors que leurs fils faisaient partie des pionniers dans l’étude et l’enseignement des langues camerounaises. Il y a 20 ans, en effet, que des personnalités avaient pris contact avec lui, pour que l’Alliance apporte son concours à ce projet. Qu’à cela ne tienne, c’est une grande joie d’assister aujourd’hui à son lancement. Il n’aura pas quitté le Cameroun sans avoir vu cette oeuvre.Cela lui tient à coeur car il prend bientôt à sa retraite et veut partir avec l’ouvrage dans ses bagages. A ceux qui devront exécuter les travaux, il n’y aura pas de repos, pas de fatigue.

Pour terminer, le Directeur général a remis un diplôme à tous les participants au séminaire préparatoire; puis il a présenté ceux qui ont été retenus pour constituer l’équipe de traduction à savoir:

• Trois traducteurs dont un prêtre (Abbé NDENKAM), un pasteur (revérend TCHIEMENI Roméo) et un laïc (M. MONTHE) ; ils ont en commun une bonne maîtrise de la théologie. Ils travailleront à plein temps jusqu’à la fin.
• Quatorze relecteurs, ayant une bonne maîtrise de la langue « NUFI ». Ils s’assureront que les traductions sont conformes aux normes et aux significations de cette langue.

• Pour marquer sa profonde implication dans ce projet, NUFI a procédé en cette circonstance à la remise de diplôme NUFI à plusieurs lauréat dont M l’Abbé NDENKAM qui cumule la fonction de traducteur avec celle de président du Comité de coordination du projet.

  Certains vont ce poser la question suivante : Traduire la Bible en fe’efe’e, cela apporte quoi à l’Association Culturelle NUFI ?

THE BIBLE IN FE’EFE’E LANGUAGE: IT’S PARTY GOING FORWARD

In a previous article, we announced the imminent project of the translation of the Holy Bible in February. On January 19, 2018, the inauguration ceremony took place in Bafang, under the joint presidency of the promoters, Abraham KOME, Bishop of Bafang, Pastor KONTCHOU Christophe, President of the Synod of the Evangelical Church of Cameroon for the High Nkam, and the Director General of the Biblical Alliance of Cameroon (ABC), Honorable GNOWA Luc, came specially from Yaounde

This appealing ceremony was preceded by a training seminar for candidates who are applying to carry out the work, a seminar led by a cadre of the Biblical Alliance from the North. Invited to the launch of the project were the collaborators of the Bishop and those of Pastor Kontchou, the members of the Directory and the teachers of NUFI, the elites of Haut-Nkam from the ten regions of Cameroon. The entertainment was provided by the choirs Poo Kristo and Cherubin accompanied by his fanfare.

On that day, the Bishop and the Reverend Pastor, took the floor to entertain the guests, reading and commenting on biblical texts, prayer, information on the birth of the project, its adventures, the the extent of the efforts expected of high-Nkamois anxious to have the Bible in their mother tongue. They did not fail to express their gratitude and to express their thanks to the Director General of the CBA and all those who have devoted themselves to achieve this result.

The speech of the Director General of the Biblical Alliance of Cameroon was particularly noteworthy. He was surprised that the NUFI people had been slow to acquire the Bible in their mother tongue, while their sons were among the pioneers in the study and teaching of Cameroonian languages. Twenty years ago, in fact, personalities had made contact with him, so that the Alliance could contribute to this project. Never mind, it is a great joy to attend today’s launch. He will not have left Cameroon without having seen this work. This is important to him because he soon takes his retirement and wants to leave with the book in his luggage. To those who will have to carry out the work, there will be no rest, no fatigue.

Finally, the Director General awarded a diploma to all participants in the preparatory seminar; then he introduced those who were selected to form the translation team, namely:

¨ Three translators including a priest (Abbé NDENKAM), a pastor (Reverend TCHIEMENI Romeo) and a layman (M. MONTHE); they have in common a good mastery of theology. They will work full time until the end.

¨·Fourteen reviewers, with a good command of the NUFI language. They will ensure that the translations conform to the norms and meanings of that language.

To mark its deep involvement in this project, NUFI proceeded on this occasion to the awarding of NUFI diploma to several laureates, including Abbot NDENKAM, who combines the function of translator with that of chairman of the project coordination committee.
