LE ROI EST MORT, VIVE LE ROI ! Les Haut-Nkamois résidant à Douala et dans le Wouri ont désormais un chef de Communauté. Il s’appelle Chef TCHOUALEU André. Le 12 mai 2018, tous ont envahi l’esplanade du Collège Saint Michel, pour suivre en direct son installation dans ses fonctions. Sa Majesté Fondjo David II, roi des Fotouni dans le Haut-Nkam et douze de ses pairs ont fait le déplacement à Douala pour la circonstance. Ils avaient été mandatés par l’ensemble des Rois du Département, pour sacrer le Chef TCHOUALEU et lui conférer les attributs de nouveau leader de la Communauté dans cette vaste agglomaération. Le choix de sa personne résulte d’un processus électoral entre plusieurs candidats. En effet, les originaires de chaque groupement du Haut-Nkam résidant à Douala s’inscrivent dans un réseau d’associations, dirigées par des chefs. Il en est ainsi des Fotouni, des Bana, des Bapouantou, des Fomessa Ii, des Banka, etc. Tous ces chefs ont à leur tour, de tout temps, formé une association de chefs avec un Bureau élu. Cette structuration est en place dans toutes les communautés Bamilékés, et sur le territoire national et à l’étranger. Le Chef TCHOUALEU, a été élu en 2017 pour succéder au chef KAMDOUM Thomas décédé en 2016. Chef de la Communauté Le Chef, entouré par un bureau, il n’interfère cependant pas dans les affaires intérieures des ressortissants de groupements; leur domaine concerne les affaires communes à l’ensemble des groupements. Qui est sa majesté Tchoualeu André ? Il est chef des originaires et familles Bapouantou à Douala, depuis que le roi KALEUK lui a confié cette charge en 2006.Il a suivi avec succès les études de mécanique-auto qu’il a approfondi au Canada. A son retour au pays en 1975, il a exercé la profession d’enseignant. A partir de 1979, il s’est converti en promoteur de centres d’enseignement depuis l’école maternelle jusqu’au niveaux d’enseignement secondaire.
La cérémonie a été présidée par le représentant du Gouverneur de la Région du Littoral qui a félicité le nouvel élu et lui a prodigué de précieux conseils. NUFI s’associe à leurs majestés les rois du Haut-Nkam, pour féliciter Le Chef des Tunkə de Douala et prier le Tout-Puissant de lui ouvrir les voies ppour porter haut le flambeau dus haut-nkamois. |
A NEW COMMUNITY LEADER IN DOUALA The king is dead, long live the king The Upper Nkamois residing in Douala and Wouri now have a community leader. His name is Chef TCHOUALEU André. On May 12, 2018, all came together at the esplanade of College Saint Michel,watch live the ceremony of his installation. His Majesty Fondjo David II, King of Fotouni (Upper Nkam) and twelve of his peers, made the trip to Douala on the occasion. It was their duty to bless Chief TCHOUALEU and confer on him his attributes as Chief of the Upper-Nkam Community in Wouri Division. But previously, elections had opposed him to other candidates. What does that mean? All native of each Upper Nkam chieftancy, living in Douala, must be members of a system of associations under the authority of a chief. For instance, natives of Fotouni chieftancy, Bana chieftancy, Bapouantou chieftancy, Fomessa Ii chieftancy, Banka chieftancy, etc. His Majesty Fondjo David II, King of the Fotouni in Upper Nkam and twelve of his peers made a trip to Douala on this special occasion. They had been mandated by all the Kings of the Division, to install Chief TCHOUALEU and confer to him the attributes of new leader of the Community in this large city. The choice of the Leader was obtained by fair election between several candidates. Indeed, the natives of each Upper-Nkam chieftancy are members of their local association, chaired by a chief. This system applies to the natives of Fotouni, Bana, Bapouantou, Fomessa Ii, Banka, etc. For many years, those chiefs have formed between them, an association of chiefs. They used to elect their Chair person who becomes the Chief of the Upper_Nkam Community. Nevertheless each chieftancy grouping is autonomous, except for maters that concern the entire Community. Chief TCHOUALEU, was elected in 2017 to replace Chief KAMDOUM Thomas who died in 2016. He is chief of the Bapouantou natives and families in Douala, since King KALEUK entrusted him with this charge in 2006. By education, he is a car mecanic, graduated in Camaroon and Canada. After these studies, he taughted motor mecanics in government colleges. In 1979, he specialise in the promotion of teaching centers from kindergarten to secondary education. The ceremony was chaired by the representative of the Governor of the Littoral Region, who congratulated the new elected chief and gave him valuable advice.

Those chiefs have always meet in an association of chiefs chaired by the Community Chief and his Bureau. This social structure can be found in every Bamileke community throughout Cameroon and even abroad.
